Pirates Of The Flint
On a quite afternoon up the historic
Flint River near Albany Georgia, the
thundering noise and smoke blast from a
black powder cannon signal the start of
a river battle.
But this battle is unlike any other,
fought with an arsenal of water balloons
hurled by young pirate clad plunderers
on their way to find treasure...
River Pointe Pirate Camp is the
greatest summer camp for children ages 6 to 14.
This is what summer is all about, get
the kids away from it all and do something
outrageous, something they will talk
about for the rest of their lives! We spend the cooler mornings teaching the children all about golf.
We are fortunate to have Sonny Skinner,
2008 PGA National Player of the Year,
giving back to the game by teaching our
young children here at River Pointe. On
Thursday we have a Golf Tournament with
prizes for first, second and third place
in each group. In the afternoons the young pirates set course
on the beautiful Flint River
for adventure. Captain
Jos, owner of the golf course and builder of the
pirate ships takes pride in teaching the
children to use their imagination and
broaden their horizons. The kids learn all about boating and sailing, navigating with
charts and a compass and they learn
about safety on the water.
After learning all their Pirate skills, the
Pirate teams have a battle at sea,
complete with real black powder cannons
and water balloon sling shots. Hundreds
of water filled cannonballs are fired
back and forth and in the end, the
toughest pirates walk away with a chest
full of real treasure! The week
is filled with great games and
activities. A closed race course
is set up for golf cart races, where
each child receives personal training to
learn about the dangers in and around golf carts.
Each child, accompanied by a driving
instructor, gets to drive a golf cart
around the track, racing against the
clock. One of the favorite activities is
the Obstacle Course. The River Pointe Pool area is transformed into Port
Royal, Pirate
headquarters, with an obstacle course
and a zip line from the coco-hut
straight into the pool! Friday
Night is Family Night. A true feast with
a real roasted pig and lots of delicious
food. Bring all your rowdy friends
and family for the festivities. We will
fish off the docks and the Captain will
give rides on the Pirate Ship. We
also have a night golfing contest on the
putting green. Later on we sing songs around the campfire and make smores.
Most of the pirates invite their parents
to spend the night at our camp site.
RV's and Campers are welcome. Everyone is
invited for the awards breakfast on
Saturday morning, where the
winners of the various contests and
competitions receive their awards. River Pointe Pirate Camp has grown
to be the summer highlight for many
young children and has gained national
recognition with the press. Our
first ship was featured on national HG-TV and
our camp was featured in Southern Living Magazine,
as well as South West Georgia Living. In 2009 we added
the "Sipwreck Shack", a poolside
playground with a tsunami waterslide,
definitely a big hit!
